Learn To Spin Sheep's Wool on a Traditional Spinning Wheel!
Sign up for a traditional spinning wheel class to learn how to spin sheep's wool from A to Z in a picturesque atmosphere of the domain La Chevrotière in Deschambault, one of the most beautiful villages in Quebec!
The class takes place at the Moulin de la Chevrotière (old water mill) and consists of three sessions that are offered on three consecutive weekends, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., totaling 18 hours of learning.
The training covers (but not limited to) :
- Spinning wheel anatomy and spinning theory
- Antique spinning wheels VS modern spinning wheels
- History of spinning equipment
- Sheep's wool and its transformation from A to Z
- Fiber preparation: carding, combing, blending
- Four different spinning techniques and their derivatives
- Three different plying techniques and their derivatives
- Different ways to wash your handspun
- Making a skein
- Working with colour
... and many hours of assisted practicing! At the end, you get a skein of your own two-ply handspun wool, just like the examples here.
Included into the price:
- All equipment and tools (antique spinning wheels, carders, combs, blending board, etc.)
- Various kinds of sheep's wool - unlimited during the training
- 20+ pages of valuable information allowing to continue learning after you finish the training

- Possibility to purchase non-expensive wool perfect for training (the same wool that you will learn with)
- You can arrive with you own spinning wheel and choose to work on it, or have it repaired by a professional cabinetmaker, if needed (free estimate)
