These spindles are wonderful tools to get you started spinning and/or to be your travel companion.
This particular model Hi-Lo by Schacht Spindle Company can be used for high-whorl and low-whorl spinning. It has a brass hook at the whorl end for high-whorl spinning and a groove at the shaft end for low-whorl spinning.
Amongst all the spindles that I have tried, these are by far my favourites: they are very well balanced, they spin smoothly and evenly, and they are solid - an important quality as, when you start learning to spin, this tool will fall off your hands quite often.

For you to get started right away, I offer 1 ounce (30 grams) of carded local sheep wool from Shannon of Valcartier region in Quebec. Its natural colour is dark chocolate brown, very soft (22-23 microns), 5-6" long. I processed this wool myself from a raw fleece. The sheep's name is Eugenie.
